How to make a documentary about film at UMass film school

The story of a film school is a fascinating one, but what happens when the students, staff and faculty at one of the world’s top universities are forced to share their own stories in the process?

For a short time in the fall of 2013, that’s exactly what happened, when UMass was the subject of an investigative piece in the Boston Globe, as well as a New York Times feature on the school and its students.

A group of UMass students from various disciplines went on the record with their own experiences and thoughts on the film school and how it has changed them and impacted their lives.

We spoke to one of those students, Kaveh Al-Khatib, about the film festival experience and the experiences of a year at Umass.
